GRAY CLIFF ROAD COLONIAL REVIVAL

Built in 1869 on a winding road amongst the rocky ledges and craggy outcroppings of the historic Gray Cliff neighborhood of Newton, this Colonial Revival still featured much of its original character, such as quarter-sawn oak woodwork, hidden doors, leaded glass and coffered ceilings. Our clients wanted their home to feel bright and vibrant, but painting the original dark woodwork was out of the question. We relied heavily on organic and botanical patterns that when layered with natural woodwork gave the rooms the feel of creating a lush landscape inside the house. A vibrant color palette of saturated jewel tones pop against the dark wood and add a complex brightness that provides way more sophistication and energy than possible with cans of white paint.
