Highlands Victorian - Newton, MA

At the time of its purchase, this 1902 shingle-style Victorian in Boston's suburb of Newton Highlands was on the verge of collapse. Rather than a full gut renovation, we opted for a structural renovation and restoration of original details and period character, such as the quarter-sawn oak floors, doors and mouldings. A neutral pallet allows the woodwork and carefully selected antiques to take center stage in the design. Restrained use of modern furnishings and lighting keep the design feeling on trend but true to its past. Kids spaces get big doses of color.
