Lawton ROAD Dutch Colonial - Needham, MA
After the birth of their two kids our clients desperately needed more space. They loved their small but light-filled Dutch Colonial in an established and quiet neighborhood in Needham, MA, just outside of Boston. Rather than spending more on a larger home that would likely leave their budget for furnishings lacking, they opted to transform their starter home into their forever home. We pulled inspiration from one of the client’s heirloom Chinese silks, which now hangs on the first floor. Black became an essential color to ground bold patterns, like chinoiserie, plaids and florals, that are found throughout the house. Despite misconceptions that the color makes a space gloomy and dark, it actually keeps the vibe elevated and sophisticated and also adds energizing contrast.
